The image states: APECS Netherlands call for new board members. We are looking for motivated polar enthusiasts to carry APECS Netherlands into the future and help us set up engaging activities for our polar community in the Netherlands.

The APECS Netherlands (APECS NL) National Committee is searching for new board members, as two of our current board members are embarking on new career adventures.

We are on the lookout for polar enthusiasts who can lead APECS NL into the future and help us organize exciting activities for our polar community in the Netherlands!

Being a board member involves a wide array of responsibilities and opportunities in a team. Over the past year, we’ve successfully organized outreach and networking events, including the APECS NL Polar Bake-off, and co-hosted the Dutch Polar Symposium 2023. In the upcoming term, we plan to continue building connections with other polar organizations, networking, reaching out to potential APECS NL members, enhancing our website and social media with posts highlighting the projects and science in the Dutch and international community.

More broadly, a position on our board will enable you to expand your network within the Dutch Polar community. If you have a project in mind or ideas for events that would benefit the community, being part of the board provides you with the opportunity and support needed to bring your ideas to life!

Here’s who we’re looking for:

  • An early-career polar researcher or a dedicated polar enthusiast.[1]
  • Someone who can dedicate a few hours per week to help manage APECS NL, attend APECS meetings, and represent us at events. You could be the face of APECS NL in the APECS Council and at national and international events. [2]
  • Individuals eager to express their creative ideas in polar science, networking, and outreach projects.
  • Committed individuals motivated to enhance the experiences of early-career polar researchers in the Netherlands.
  • Someone who appreciates a welcoming and a fun team to work with.

As a board member, you can contribute to various activities, such as:

  • Writing content for our website.
  • Assisting with APECS International and the European Polar Board’s activities.
  • Building partnerships and reaching out to individuals and organizations in the polar community.
  • Organizing webinars and in-person events.
  • Co-coordinating the Dutch Polar Symposium.
  • Managing social media and newsletters.

If you’re passionate about polar research and would like to bring your interests to the APECS NL board, please reach out to us at [email protected]. In your email, kindly provide your name, affiliation or area of study, and a brief statement explaining what motivates you to join APECS NL. We will contact you shortly after to arrange an introductory meeting with the board.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Erika, Mareike, Yousra, and Youri.
