NWO and APECS would like to invite you to the annual Symposium of the Netherlands Polar Programme (NPP). This year’s polar symposium will take place December, 7th at NWO in The Hague. The symposium is entitled ‘Polar Impacts’.
The symposium programme is centered around three themes concentrating on the topic of Polar Impacts:
- 1.“Environmental and climatic impacts”. We discuss recent research developments in the impacts the polar regions are facing, including climate change, economic activities, geopolitical issues, and societal developments.
- 2.“Societal and cultural impacts”. We discuss the impacts of polar science on policy, society and arts.
- 3.“Funding and governance impacts”. Recent developments at the European Polar Board, NWO, and specifically the Netherlands Polar Programme will be discussed, including changes in funding instruments, programme management and programme funding.
Apart from a poster session and presentations, there will be discussion groups revolving around the main themes, and a special APECS discussion group and an informal APECS NL dinner aimed at early career researchers.
