Dear members and friends of APECS NL,
Connecting early career polar scientists to senior researchers (a.k.a. “mentors”) is an important aspect of APECS. To honour the efforts of APECS mentors, the APECS International Mentorship Award is issued each year. We received the following update from the Mentor Award project group:
We’d like to bring your attention to an extension to the original deadline to submit nominations for this year’s APECS International Mentorship Award. The deadline to nominate a mentor for consideration is now 29 April. The awarded recipients will be recognized in Davos at POLAR2018.
Have you had an outstanding mentor at some point in your career? Is there a deserving individual who has gone above and beyond in mentoring and serving your National Committee or project group or APECS as a whole? APECS members, please consider nominating that mentor for deserved recognition here: https://www.apecs.is/mentors/mentorship-award.html.
In a follow-up email, we will be seeking potential reviewers from the greater Council (*individuals not associated with a particular 2018 Mentorship Award nomination) to serve on the review panel throughout the first two weeks of May.
Many thanks for your attention.
Natalie Freeman,
On behalf of the Mentor Award Project Group
